There are few things that get the heart racing like a heartfelt version of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Just ask anyone who saw Jackson Dean Nicholson, a senior defensive end at Arundel High School in Maryland, perform a few years back.
We’re not discussing his game play, but rather his pre-game performance of the national anthem. It amazed the home fans and has also impressed thousands online over time.
According to reports, Nicholson faced a choice when he found out no one else was ready to sing before his school’s game. He could have let them play a recording or let the crowd sing along themselves.
But Nicholson is different. Before the match began, he stood alone on the field with just an acoustic guitar and microphone.
He delivered one of the best renditions of the U.S. national anthem we’ve ever heard! It’s no wonder that this video became viral and keeps coming back into popularity.
The video was first shared in 2018, and its continued relevance shows how talented Nicholson is as a singer.
“It was really cool. I probably knew 90 percent of those people in those stands, and they had no clue I was going to do it until I brought my guitar out,” Nicholson told the Baltimore Sun back then.
